Nicholas Woods (Lynchburg, Virginia, USA, 1971). Woods has had 4 solo exhibitions with the gallery since joining Galería Mayor in 2001. The gallery has also shown his work at art fairs in Spain, Germany and the USA. His work is represented in the following collections, to name a few: Fundación La Caixa, Barcelona, Colección Caja Madrid, Madrid, Ayuntamiento de Pamplona, Fundación Miró, Mallorca, Fundación Sa Nostra, Mallorca y la Fundación Es Baluard, Museo de Arte Moderno y Contemporáneo de Palma.
“Nicholas Woods presents an installation of drawings made on 10 mirrors which have been painted entirely white. Inspired by surrealist interpretations of the Mediterranean landscape, the artist has scratched line drawings on the large white surfaces of the mirrors in such a way that the images are only fleeting reflections of what is before them.
The center of the gallery is occupied by octagonal boxes made of paper, forming towers of images stacked on top of each other. Only fragments of the drawings on the tops of the boxes are visible around the edges as each layer conceals the previous one”.
