‘Over the years, Victoria Civera’s (Puerto de Sagunto, 1955) repertoire has widened to include an enormous range of disciplines that the artist uses with total lack of inhibition, according to the needs of each work of art: “without prejudices, and now more than ever –she admits- the vocabularies mix and the gaze takes on a frenetic pace”. Thus, we have seen her working from photography and photomontage in her beginnings (recently she has returned to Polaroids, this time in large format, although technically she never left it since she has always used it as a tool in her pictorial process), going on to master sculpture and installation, yet always maintaining painting as the common thread. But even within this framework she shows an irrepressible tendency to expand the field of her resources and experiment with other models or combinations: from small, usually circular formats which characterized her work through the eighties and nineties, to the monumental formats with which she works today, which she alternates with explorations where the boundaries between picture and object are never clear.
