The flow of thought
Galería Maior – Palma
Antonio Paucar (Huancayo, Peru, 1973) on this occasion, the artist settled in Berlin opens the exhibition “The flow of thought”. Paucar is the author of the installation called “Shoes that break the silence”, made with thousands of dead flies suspended in the air and a pair of shoes, which is one of the most reminded of the Nit de L’Art (Art Night) in 2008.
During the opening, the artist performed the action “Vascular map”, using an installation made from straws he has interlaced symmetrically on the wall to let the wine pass through them, creating an incredible sense of veins that are sketched. As Paucar himself notes “the wine has its magic and creative part”, even while he warns “that becomes confusing if exceeded”, refering the the art itself.
The performance was videotaped and stayed at the exhibition next to the drawing called “Calligraphy of the dancers Wood and Plastic”, created by two objects, a peg-top and a cd cover, which the artist transformed into drawing instruments, preparing them with lead and acrylic paint to draw lines by concentric oscillating movements he drives, letting the objects dance freely. We’ll also be able watch the video of this creation. Paucar turns himself in a means to draw and create, but he does this not only to himself but also using other instruments, everyday materials which he fixes, modifies and alters manually, giving an amazing result. During the creation process, Paucar was fascinated by the beautiful “Sonnet to Wine” by Jorge Luis Borges, from which he extracts the final lines:
"Wine, show me the art of seeing my own history, As if it were already a handful of ashes in memory. "
